Care can suddenly become an issue - or change gradually. Good to know: In Germany, people in need of care and their relatives have a clear legal entitlement to care advice<\/strong>. At the same time, there have recently been important reforms (PUEG, \u201eCommon Annual Amount\u201c and, since 01.01.2026, the BEEP) that simplify processes and place a greater focus on advice.<\/p>\n

1) What is care advice - and when is it worthwhile?<\/h4>\n\n

Care advice helps you to choose from a wide range of options. concrete plan<\/strong> to make: Apply for benefits, organize suitable support (outpatient, part-time inpatient, short-term care), ensure relief for relatives and avoid typical mistakes.<\/p>\n\n

Typical occasions:<\/p>\n\n

    \n
  • Degree of care has been applied for or approved<\/li>\n\n
  • Overload\/relief in home care<\/li>\n\n
  • Conversion from care allowance \u2194 care benefit in kind \u2194 combination benefit<\/li>\n\n
  • Acute time-out necessary (vacation\/illness of caregiver)<\/li>\n\n
  • Adaptation of living space, aids, organization in everyday life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    \n

    2) The legal situation: Two \u201etypes\u201c of care advice that are often confused<\/h4>\n\n

    A) Care advice in accordance with \u00a7 7a SGB XI (entitlement - voluntary)<\/h5>\n\n

    If you apply for long-term care insurance benefits, should<\/strong> the long-term care insurance fund gives you within two weeks<\/strong> make a counseling appointment possible or suggest a suitable counseling center. This counseling is free of charge<\/strong> (billed via the care insurance fund).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

    B) Counseling according to \u00a7 37 para. 3 SGB XI (mandatory - for care allowance)<\/h5>\n\n

    Who (predominantly) care allowance<\/strong> and is cared for at home, must be examined at certain intervals. Consulting assignment<\/strong> call up. This is not a \u201econtrol\u201c, but is intended to stabilize home care and provide practical help.<\/p>\n\n

    Important (new 2026):<\/strong> The BEEP has standardized\/simplified the mandatory dates for the advisory assignment in accordance with Section 37 (3) (for details see section \u201eWhat's new in 2026?\u201c).\u00a0<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    \n

    3) What is \u201ecurrent\u201c: an overview of the most important changes 2024-2026<\/h4>\n\n

    01.01.2024 & 01.01.2025: Performance adjustments due to the PUEG<\/h5>\n\n
      \n
    • 01.01.2024:<\/strong> Care allowance and outpatient benefits in kind +5 %<\/li>\n\n
    • 01.01.2025:<\/strong> all<\/strong> Long-term care insurance benefits +4.5 %<\/li>\n\n
    • The next \u201escheduled\u201c dynamization (according to the PUEG system) is only planned for 01.01.2028<\/strong> intended.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      Practical values (since 01.01.2025, status 2026):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

        \n
      • Care allowance: PG 2 347 \u20ac<\/strong>, PG 3 599 \u20ac<\/strong>, PG 4 800 \u20ac<\/strong>, PG 5 990 \u20ac<\/strong>\/month\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
      • relief amount: 131 \u20ac<\/strong>\/month (PG 1-5, home care)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
        01.07.2025: \u201eJoint annual amount\u201c - more flexibility when taking time out<\/h5>\n\n

        Short-term care and respite care were combined into one Joint annual amount<\/strong> brought together:<\/p>\n\n

          \n
        • Budget: up to 3,539 \u20ac per calendar year<\/strong> (PG 2-5), flexible use\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
        • Transfer \u201ecalculation rules\u201c no longer apply - less bureaucracy<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
        • Pre-care period not applicable<\/strong> (Preventive care can be used immediately from PG 2)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
        • Preventive care until 8 weeks\/year<\/strong>, and continued payment of care allowance (half) until 8 weeks\/year<\/strong> for respite care and short-term care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
          Since 01.01.2026: BEEP (extension of powers & reduction of bureaucracy)<\/h5>\n\n

          At the turn of the year, the BEEP<\/strong> entered into force. Key issues:<\/p>\n\n

            \n
          • More powers for nursing staff<\/strong> (certain tasks independently within the framework of contracts)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
          • Reducing bureaucracy<\/strong>, including the scope of testing and documentation\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
          • Prevention advice<\/strong> is strengthened (targeted access, recommendation of concrete measures)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n
          • Applications\/Forms<\/strong> are to be simplified (cooperation committee at the GKV-Spitzenverband)<\/li>\n\n
          • Mandatory advisory assignments (Section 37 (3))<\/strong> have been standardized\/simplified - for many this means: fewer mandatory appointments, but still the chance of additional advice if needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            \u00a0<\/p>\n

            4) Use care advice correctly: Mini checklist<\/h4>\n\n

            This preparation helps to ensure that the consultation really \u201eworks\u201c:<\/p>\n\n

              \n
            • Provide care degree certificate \/ MD documents<\/li>\n\n
            • Who provides care? (Relatives, nursing service, neighborhood help)<\/li>\n\n
            • What works well - where is there strain? (personal hygiene, mobility, night, dementia, household)<\/li>\n\n
            • Write down goal: \u201eRelief\u201c, \u201eMore help in the household\u201c, \u201eOrganize time out\u201c, \u201eAids\u201c, \u201eAdapt home\u201c<\/li>\n\n
            • List of questions (5 minutes is enough!) and request: consultation at home \/ by phone \/ by video<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
