Care advice in accordance with §7 SGB XI offers all those in need of care and their relatives a legal claim on comprehensive and individual advice. This advice is intended to help Care requirements and to make use of the appropriate long-term care insurance benefits. It is usually carried out by the care insurance funds or by qualified care advisors on their behalf.
Care advice in accordance with Section 7 SGB XI can be obtained by anyone who in need of care within the meaning of long-term care insurance. The prerequisites are
✅ Care levels 1 to 5 have already been determined by the Medical Service (MDK) or other experts.
✅ Persons in need of long-term care or their legal Representatives (such as relatives) can take advantage of the consultation.
✅ New applicants are also entitled to advice in order to find out about the options for care services.
Care advice in accordance with §7 SGB XI is free of charge. People in need of care and their relatives do not have to pay any fees to make use of this service. The care insurance funds cover the full cost of the consultation.

Care advice in accordance with §37.3 SGB XI concerns Care allowance recipients, who are cared for at home by relatives or other persons. In order to ensure the quality of home care, recipients of care allowance obligated, to take advantage of counseling sessions at regular intervals. These consultations are intended to review the care situation, provide support and ensure that those in need of care receive the best possible care.
The frequency of the mandatory consultation depends on the care level:
✅ Care level 2 and 3Consultations are required at least every six months.
✅ Care level 4 and 5Consultations are required at least quarterly.
✅ Care level 1Counseling is voluntary, but can be taken advantage of once every six months.
The costs for advice in accordance with §37.3 SGB XI are covered by the care insurance funds. The person in need of care or the family members providing care do not have to bear any costs themselves.

Care advice in accordance with §45 SGB XI includes Care training and care courses for family caregivers and volunteer caregivers. The aim of these advisory and training services is to improve the quality of care and provide carers with the knowledge and skills they need to provide the best possible care. It provides practical support for family caregivers and aims to improve the day-to-day care of those in need of care.
✅ Caregiving relatives or volunteer caregivers: Carers who look after people in need of care at home are entitled to these training courses.
✅ People in need of care with care levels 1 to 5Relatives of people with any level of care can take advantage of these services.
The training courses and courses according to §45 SGB XI are free of charge for family caregivers and volunteer caregivers. The costs are covered by the Long-term care insurance so that neither the person in need of care nor the caregiver has to pay for it.
